U.S. Women's U22 Select Team Set For Series vs. Canada

Roster announced, competition begins later this week

Twenty-two players who participated at the 2016 USA Hockey Women's National Festival in Lake Placid, N.Y., have been chosen for the 2016 U.S. Women's Under-22 Select Team that will compete in a three-game series against Canada from August 17-20 at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, Alberta.

The USA Hockey Women's National Festival took place August 8-12 at the Lake Placid Olympic Center. The U.S. Women's Under-22 Select Team will train together until August heading to Calgary on August 15.

The roster features two players who helped the 2016 U.S. Women's National Team earn a gold medal at the International Ice Hockey Federation Women's World Championship in Kamloops, British Columbia. Those players are Megan Keller (Farmington, Mich.) and Annie Pankowski (Laguna Hills, Calif.). Rebecca Gilmore (Wayland, Mass.), Patricia Marshall (Thief River Falls, Minn.) and Alex Woken (Fargo, N.D.) helped the 2016 U.S. Women's National Under-18 Team earn a gold medal at the IIHF Under-18 Women's World Championship in St. Catherines, Ontario.

The 22-player roster (six defensemen, 14 forwards and two goaltenders) and staff listing is available here. The 22 players represent 13 different states. Minnesota leads the pack with six representatives followed by Massachusetts with five and New York with two. Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, North Dakota, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin each have one representative.

NOTES: The three-game series vs. Canada is an annual event between the two countries held 12 times since 1999.
